Sword Art Online: Alicization merupakan Season ke-3 dari anime Sword Art Online (SAO).
SAO Alicization berawal setelah kisah Mother’s Rosario, Kirito dihubungi pihak JSDF untuk menjadi beta tester sebuah teknologi Rath terbaru yang menggunakan perangkat Full Dive generasi baru, ialah Soul Translator (STL).
STL merupakan salah satu project Alicization dan disana Kirito berada di sebuah dunia virtual bernama Underworld. Namun sebuah insiden terjadi saat ia menjalani uji coba itu, tiba-tiba salah satu dari kasus Death Gun terdahulu menyerangnya, membuat Kirito dalam kondisi yang kritis. Dan untuk menolongnya, Kirito terpaksa cepat dibawa ke salah satu tempat rahasia militer dan menggunakan STL sebagai sarana untuk menyembuhkan luka di otak Kirito.
Selama tak sadarkan diri, Kirito berada di dunia Virtual Underworld. Dunia virtual yang memiliki waktu ribuan kali lebih cepat dari dunia nyata berkat teknologi Fluct Light Acceleration.
Disana ia bertemu dengan Eugeo, ia memang seorang NPC, namun ada banyak kesamaan yang membuat dirinya seperti seorang manusia asli, ia juga mendapatkan ingatan aneh berupa gadis bernama Alice. Apa yang sebenarnya terjadi?
